Abandoned Dog Chained By The Highway Is Rescued After An Accident

As pet lovers, we find the cruel act of abandoning pets in such an inhuman way very heart-wrenching. It breaks our hearts every day that these adorable creatures have to go through such betrayal from their owners who they stayed faithful to till the end.

For dogs, it is a natural instinct to bestow their humans with love, trust, and loyalty, and we can’t imagine how devastated they feel when they find themselves abandoned in an unfamiliar world and left to fend for themselves without much hope for survival.

Getting discarded like they never really meant anything to their owners is enough to break and shatter these pups’ hearts, it also has a slight tendency to harm whatever hope they have in humans. But we can’t really blame them for feeling this way, it can be really hard to recover from such betrayal from someone you loved with your entire heart.

No Dog Deserves To Be Abandoned So Cruelly

On a faithful day, a call was put through to animal rescuers from a concerned woman who laid a complaint of a dog chained near the highway. According to her, it seemed like the dog had been abandoned by his owner as there had been no sight of him for a really long time.

Unfortunately, the poor dog got in an accident while he was exposed to such a dangerous environment. Due to the impact of the accident, he wasn’t able to stand or move so much.

Still, in chains, it must have been so much for him fouling through all that physical and emotional pain. Cooper must have been hoping that help would come. And help finally came when the rescuers arrived.

They cut the chains and carefully took him away for medical attention as he was obviously in a lot of pain. There is no explanation as to why Cooper would be abandoned in such an environment but no explanation can justify this cruel act from his previous owner. He definitely didn’t deserve to be left and exposed to such a situation.

Will Cooper Ever Walk Again?

Cooper is taken to the hospital where it is discovered that his condition is a lot worse than what his rescuers thought. He had a lot of ticks in his skin and there was a lot of damage done to his spine as a result of the accident.

Cooper must have suffered a great deal battling with ticks, and sticky and dirty fur. He would need a miracle to fully recover from his unfortunate ordeal. But then it doesn’t hurt to hope for the best for this dog, so his doctors took him in for surgery.

After 3 hours of operating on Cooper, he came out a little bit better than how he was found which is pretty much a relief. But his chances of standing strong and walking again were a very slight one. The doctors ruled it out as a 1% chance; a super low possibility it is.

This makes Cooper very sad and depressed for days, it must have been too much for him. How can he go from a happy and thriving dog with an owner to being chained and dumped by the highway?

Hearing about his ordeal, a lot of compassionate people were sending him gifts and lots of love, but Cooper’s heart was still broken and in dismay.

Not giving up on him, his doctors transferred him to physical therapy which Cooper hated by the way but all of these efforts were just so he could get better and boost his chances of walking again. It was of course not going to be easy for him but it would all be worth it in the end.

Little by little Cooper continued to put some effort into taking these steps, as time passed he got better and more motivated about it. You know it is a lot of improvement when he doesn’t cry or whine during his massage. A beautiful smile returned to his face and it was so amazing to see.

Gradually you could see happiness return to Cooper’s eyes as he now has so much belief in himself and the caring people around him. Now with so much willpower radiating through him, Cooper took his first few fragile steps which eventually increased to 30 minutes of walking a day. It is true Cooper can walk again but it will only take some time.

A Better Life Awaits Cooper

Although it was a draining and tiresome experience for everyone involved in trying to get Cooper to feel better, it was certainly worth it to finally see him happy again. The progress he is making is remarkable.

It was finally official that Cooper would be discharged and wouldn’t be needing any doctor’s appointment anymore and so he was taken to a new home.

Cooper was obviously a very curious dog, he liked exploring a lot and playing with his friends. Although he still needs a little support to walk Cooper is definitely going to get there.

Cooper couldn’t be happier that he was saved on that faithful day. He is certainly grateful to his rescuer and everyone else who contributed to his recovery, truly there are good and well-meaning people around and ready to lend a helping hand to these distressed animals. Cooper’s story is a good example of this fact.
