However, due to their evolution and relations to wolves, their digestive system has been shaped to process meat-based proteins as well. A balanced meal generally consists of high-quality commercial dog food, which includes all the nutrients that dogs need.

The nutrient dogs need to stay healthy includes proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. For your dog to stay healthy, you must ensure that it is provided with meals that include all these nutrients.

Dogs enjoy and benefit from food that is high in protein, such as meat. Although meat is an excellent source of protein for your canine friend, it is important to identify the right meat your dog will love.

What To Consider Before Offering Bear Meat To Dogs

There are a lot of considerations to keep in mind when contemplating giving your dogs, bear meat. Bear meat is not a common food for dogs in most homes, and there are some things you need to be aware of before you feed it to your furry friend. Here are some things to consider deciding to give your dogs bear meat. They are as follows;

1. Parasites

A major concern with bear meat is that it is a carrier of parasites, bacteria, or diseases. The most prominent disease that bears carry is trichinosis.

This is a parasitic infection that is caused by the trichinella worm, not only does this parasite pose health challenges to dogs, but it may also pose health risks to humans.

The parasite can affect the different parts of the dogs such as the heart, lungs, brain, etc. Symptoms of trichinosis include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, inflammation, weakness, and sometimes death.

2. Fat

Bear meat is known to be greasy and contains a high level of fat. This is because they have a thick layer of fat, right beneath their skin, which is there to help them survive during the cold weather. While this fat is beneficial to bears, it is not good for dogs.

This fat is hard for dogs to digest, and it has also been identified to cause pancreatitis in dogs, this is a condition where the pancreas gets inflamed and produces a lot of digestive enzymes.

This condition can result in nausea, abdominal pain, dehydration, loss of appetite, and sometimes, organ failure dogs.
